Jim Mangan's "Color'd"
November 16, 2011Since his first exhibition Winter’s Children at Milk Gallery last year, Jim Mangan recently closed his follow-up photography show–Color’d, at the Country Club in Los Angeles.
In his latest exhibition, Mangan captures the essence of veiled and painted human bodies wandering through the alpine lakes of northern Utah’s Uinta Mountains. The photographs depict covered entities wandering together through the wilderness. Their environment, painted with endless possibilities, allows Mangan’s characters to redefine themselves entirely as blank canvases.
“For me, Color’d represents a journey where there exists no boundaries, an escape from everyday society into a world where anything seems possible,” explains Mangan.
Color’d has graced the cover of Vice’s Photo Issue in 2011 and is now being published by Dashwood Books. Mangan’s work will be available for purchase online and in Stussy’s flagship stores worldwide.
