Fashion Week venues come and go, but The Standard hotel gains momentum with every season. And how! A good number of visiting EIC’s sleep there during the week, and everyone pretty much camps out at the place, thanks to the countless dinners at Standard Grill, visits to Boom Boom, fashion shows, and then some more visits to Boom Boom. Herewith, a selection of the events at The Standard that we’re particularly excited about.
September 7 Fendi O’ is an exclusive live music series that a certain Karl put together to ease the grind of Paris fashion week. (Amy Winehouse, The Gossip, and Duran Duran are among the past headliners.) This year, for the re-opening of Boom Boom, the Swedish media darling Lykke Li takes center stage.
September 8 Bruce Weber and The Standard have a longstanding love affair. Weber, Nan Bush and the team will rule the beer garden during Fashion’s Night Out. Save you a seat — promise.
September 9 Pssst! Le Baron @ Le Bain is back for the weekend! Can you out-party André Saraiva? Mebbe not.
September 10 Nick Cave, the artist not the singer, will be all over Fashion Week, with an Ikram Goldman-hosted party and two dueling shows at Jack Shainman and Mary Boone. What costume will he wear to his private Boone reception at The Standard? We’ll let you know in the morning. Also, Gregory Parkinson shows at the High Line room, and Oliver Zahm, who practically lives at the hotel, reprises his popular bacchanal for Purple magazine.
September 11 Do you have a shameless crush on Christina Hendricks? Snap. She and some dude named Ryan Gosling will celebrate a certain movie called “Drive” during a private party on Sunday.
September 12 Alistair Carr, the new creative force behind Pringle of Scotland, will finally show us his goods at a small presentation. Will his buddies Tilda Swinton and Ryan McGinley be there? Le Baron closes; party people get to sleep for a night.
September 13 Chadwick Bell and Anna Sheffield, the awesomely tattooed and talented NYC jewelry designer (and sometime blogger for The Standard), show their highly anticipated new collections. Meanwhile, L’officiel Hommes hosts a party to launch its new September issue.
September 14 In many ways, this will be Carine Roitfeld’s Fashion Week. She’ll be at the shows, promoting her book and recent work for Barneys, and supporting her son Vlad’s art initiatives. Roitfeld caps off her crazy schedule with a private Black & White Ball, held in conjunction with V magazine. At Le Bain, Love Cat magazine will launch its Lindsay Lohan issue with hosts like Pat Field and artist Richard Phillips.
