His shoes for women have been described the NY Times as “aggressively sexy”, an aesthetic that was very much in evidence at Alejandro Ingelmo’s aw13 presentation at the Standard Hotel last night. Beloved of pop divas like Beyonce, Rhianna and Nicki Minaj, his high high heels, sassy cutaways and metallic leather accents were just made for strutting your red carpet stuff.
And yet his line in men’s sneakers and loafers (slip-on and laced, Oxford style) is equally attention-seeking. His signature Tron hi-top, featuring strips of shiny patent leather, appeared in versions entirely encrusted in glitter, while other swag touches included a patent aligator print and a luxe fur trims on a simple grey suede bootie. Platform soles in contrasting brilliant white bumped classic-hued loafers and brogues up a futuristic notch, while Ingelmo’s line in sport-luxe backpacks and holdalls looked as desirable as ever.
