It was Niv Bavarsky’s illustrations depicting cartoon-like heads filled with rats that initially caught our attention. But it wasn’t till after spending hours clicking back through his Tumblr and sifting through his Flickr account, both filled with artwork and sketchbook pages, that we were hooked. Palettes of acid purples and yellows color an assortment of abstract and narrative scenes that have graced the pages of The New York Times and Nobrow. Bavarsky has a style that blends the familiarity of street and zine but more importantly it’s his own. We got in contact with Niv and decided to test the theory that a picture is worth a thousand words, and let his hands answer the questions we had to get to know him a little better.
